Web Traffic Report Jan. 30

Colleagues,

Despite extreme technical problems that prevented us from updating the site most of the day and actually led to a site shut down for several hours, we still scored respectable numbers: 23,570 uniques and 123,254 page views.

The interesting thing in this batch of numbers is that our number 8 story was simply a press release about Elton John coming to Portland and Manchester. Remember, press releases and community briefs drive traffic, too. We're not restricted to posting stories or news items. If you've got something interesting post it. And if it it gets a bunch of clicks that tells you maybe you should follow up with a story because there is interest.

Thanks to Ken Stejbach for his Herculean efforts at shooting and producing photo galleries. Five of the top 10 galleries are his.

I have added a sheet of excellent interviewing tips to our newsroom blog at http://seacoastonlinenews.blogspot.com

Colleagues,

Yesterday was a great day for Seacoastonline. We finished with 29,145 Uniques and 147,000 page views.Page Views: 147,000

Our number one story had huge traffic thanks to a pickup by Fark. Also great to see a local business story getting the second highest traffic. Shir recognizes that we have great growth opportunties in the business portion of the website and is doing a good job going after them.

Nice job by Sue Morse getting the Robert Fowler interview.

Please remember to send out breaking news alerts. I sent one this morning on the Exeter police looking for the Arjay robbery suspect.

We're close to the following milestone: 2,000 subscribers to PH headlines. We're on track by the end of February to have more than 300 subscribers to breaking news, 100 subscribers each for morning and afternoon updates and to go over 900 subscribers each for the York County Coast Star and the Exeter News-Letter.
