We had good traffic online Wednesday with 31,115 unique visitors and 153,904 page views.
Our strong showing was due, in large part, to a brief David Choate story, posted at 5:47 p.m., informing people they could watch last night's lunar eclipse at the UNH Observatory.
In meetings with reporters I have stressed that online, short, timely reports are just as important as full stories, and this is an example. Another example is a simple preview of a sentencing hearing of a Hampstead driver who killed a Portsmouth woman. This "staff report" took us no time to do and has garnered more than 2,000 hits since it was posted. Our original plan was to simply cover the hearing and file a report. If we had done that we would have missed out on all the traffic the preview brought us.
